Slovenia is a
delightful country with a warm and friendly people, vast
forests, dramatic caves and gorges, crystal clear mountain
rivers and lakes together with historic castles and peaceful
alpine villages. After the Channel crossing from Folkestone
and a ride through Northern France, we’ll spend the
first night in the Champagne region. Our hotel is a four
star converted water mill, located in a rural setting on
the banks of a river. En route to Slovenia we shall enjoy
the hospitality of our friends in biker-friendly hotels
in both the Black Forest of Germany and the Austrian Tyrol.
In Slovenia our hotel at Lake Bohinj is situated in an idyllic
location with views of the lake and the surrounding mountain
peaks of the Julian Alps. During our stay we shall visit
the Vintgar Gorge, the caves at Postojina and castles at
Predjama and Lake Bled. Another ride out will follow the
twisty roads through the Triglav National Park to the beautiful
ski resort of Kranjska Gora. For those with a more adventurous
taste there is an opportunity not to be missed - a lunch
at a well known local taverna with an extensive range of
local delicacies and the on-hand assistance of two local
guides (US!) to guide you through the menu. Finally, with
two overnight stops we’ll ride back to the UK.
