Covered
with tall fir trees and spruces, the Black Forest is one
of Germany’s most picturesque regions.
After meeting at Folkestone and an early morning crossing
to Calais, we’ll ride towards our first overnight
destination in the Champagne region of France. The next
morning we’ll continue our journey into the Black
Forest, one of the most attractive biking destinations in
Europe and often referred to as a paradise for motorcycle
touring. For the next four nights we’ll base ourselves
in the southern region of the Black Forest in one of our
biker-friendly hotels, with an excellent restaurant and
well stocked wine cellar. From here we can explore Lakes
Titisee and Schluchsee, just the place to treat ouselves
with a slice (or two) of Black Forest gateaux.
Take a ride to Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black
Forest, visit the historic town of Freiburg and the Roman
spa city of Baden-Baden. Also not to be missed, a day trip
to visit Triberg the highest waterfalls in the region and
an open air museum with Black Forest’s oldest house
dating back to the XVII century. While we are there why
not just pop just next door and have an exciting toboggan
ride (1400 m long) which will cause a scream or two, even
amongst the bravest ones?
The Black Forest cannot be mentioned
without making reference to the most famous biking road
in Germany, the B500. This road is engineered in a true
German fashion with fantastic surfaces and long cambered
sweeping bends. If this sounds too good to be true, why
not join this tour and find out for your self?
