After a short Channel Tunnel crossing we’ll
ride across Holland and northern Germany to board the overnight
Motorail to Austria. The next morning, after disembarking
from the train, we’ll continue our journey through
Slovenia and the Croatian region of Zagorje towards Kumrovec,
the birthplace of the late Marshall Tito. Here we shall
visit the former president’s house which has been
turned into a museum. The next morning, we shall follow
winding roads through the Zagorje Hills towards our next
destination, the breathtaking Plitvice National Park. Our
journey continues by descending in the direction of the
Adriatic coast with lunch at another magnificent creation
of Mother Nature - the waterfalls of the river Krka. Our
four star hotel on the Adriatic coast, with its own excellent
restaurant and secure parking, will provide us with the
ideal location to relax and rest for a night. Our destination
will be a small fishing town just outside Dubrovnik, and
a five star hotel, will be our base for the next three days.
A boat trip to Dubrovnik and a tour of the old walled city
will reveal its finest sites such as the Franciscan Monastery
and Dubrovnik's Cathedral with its famous Treasury. If we
take a fancy on one of the free days we can take a ride
to Montenegro, the smallest state in the Balkans. To round
off our stay we’ll spend a day on a private island
enjoying its sandy beaches and a fish barbeque accompanied
by local wine. On our way back, with two overnight stops
we shall ride the entire length of the fantastic Adriatic
coast with majestic blue seas to our left and stunning mountain
ranges of Biokovo, Mosor and Velebit to our right. A fascinating
tour that offers a unique opportunity to explore this beautiful
part of the world.
