France
Easy to get to, goog roads, excellent
food, fine wine, drivers are very tolerant towards bikers
and there is not much traffic. Most of the motorways, however,
have only two lanes so when lorries and coaches try to overtake
each other you may find yourself stuck behind them for a while.
As you approach Calais on the return leg of the journey care
should be taken regarding the speed limits (70mph in rain
and 80mph in dry). The French traffic police have worked out
that there are many speeding vehicles trying to make it back
to Calais in time for channel crossings. The only problem
we personally have with France is that before we get anywhere
near the hills and mountains we have to ride through some
fairly boring countryside (Calais to Reims). Otherwise France
is highly recommended.
